A festival to celebrate the heritage of rice in India

Thiruvananthapuram: Rice varieties displayed in coconut shells on the ongoing rice in Kowdiar talking a lot about our country’s rich agricultural heritage.
The organic bazaar in Kowdiar organizes the celebration working with Trust Thanal.
Mela covers more than 120 rice varieties.
Mela’s main attraction is traditional Indian varieties.
This is the fifth Mela done by the organic bazaar and Thanal.
This Fest is being organized to create awareness about the varieties of rice desi and make the current generation aware of the history of rice.

There are around 3,000 varieties in Kerala, but now only around 200 varieties are available, according to the committee.

Rice varieties are collected mainly from various parts of the country, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
