Agra: Chaudhary Basheer, a former minister in the government Mulayam Singh who turned three times to become an independent politician, has been sent to prison after his fourth wife accused him of saying Triple Talaq.
“The former minister was arrested on Thursday and was imprisoned by court orders.
The case was listed below it below Section 504 (intentional insults provide provocations) of the Criminal Code and Section of Indian 3 and 4 Muslim women (Protection of Rights to Marriage) Law (Talaq Cancel and Illegal, and punishment for it) after his wife Nagma filed a complaint, “said Agra SSP Muniraj G.
Nagma, 30, married Basheer, 45, in 2012.
The couple had two sons, aged seven and eight years old.
“On July 23, I learned that my husband would remarried,” Nagma stated in his complaint.
He has lived with his parents for three years, he added, because he was “harassed by him and his sister who would beat me, harassed me and tortured me mentally.” He finally decided to go home to Basheer and face him.
“He harassed me again and said Triple Talaq, forced me to leave.
I was looking for help from the police but did not get it.
As a former minister, he had an effect,” he said in his complaint.
He has posted videos on social media, asking for police assistance.
In response, Basheer also began sharing audio clips where he denied his allegations and said he was framed for political reasons.
“He has a dozen criminal cases delayed by him because of riots, trying to kill, loot, and kidnapping,” said a police officer.
