CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu on Monday appointed A K S Vijayan, ex-MP of Nagapattinam, Because its representative at New Delhi.
An order to this effect has been issued by main secretary Irai Anbu.
“The sanction was accorded for the introduction of a temporary post of particular representative to the government of Tamil Nadu for a period of one year with effect from the date, where the appointee takes control or until the demand for it stops, whichever is sooner,” the order stated.
Vijayan is a native of Sithamalli at Tiruvarur district.
The veteran was chosen from Nagapattinam LS chair in 1999, 2004 and 2009 and held different positions at the Parliamentary committees, such as railways, communications, transportation, tourism and society, and general public undertakings.
He had been DMK’s Parliamentary pioneer in 2009 and has been chairman of committee Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
Vijayan also held the place of DMK Nagapattinam district secretary.
