A little increase in Covid case because of targeted testing: BBMP

Officials say intensive contact searches and testing is one reason for a little increase in covid tally in the city
Covid cases increased slightly on Saturday because the country reported 1,987 new cases, including 450 in Bengaluru.
Among the reasons for the increase is that travelers from neighboring countries, especially from Kerala, can enter the country freely until now (on Saturday, the state issues fresh advisors, Covid negative certificates).
The second reason is an increase in testing.
On Saturday, around 1.38 people were tested, which was slightly higher than the previous days.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) claims that other reasons are that now doing ‘targeted testing’.
According to BBMP, testing has been intensified.
Previously, 10 primary and secondary contacts were tracked and tested for every single covid patient.
Now up to 20 people per covid positive people are tested.
Because this is the primary and secondary contact of Covid patients, there is a higher possibility to test positive, so the ‘targeted testing’ results in an increase in Covid cases.
Officials say it is better to take precautions now rather than taking last minute steps if the third wave hit.
However, they said the average Bengaluru case was in the range of 500 for the past few weeks.
The level of participation for the country is 1.43 percent.
However, TPR in Dakshina Kannada was the highest at 4.58 percent, followed by Chikkamagaluru 3.98 percent, Udupi 3.56 percent, Kodagu 3.51 percent and Hassan 2.2 percent.
TPR Bengaluru Urban is at 0.74 percent.

The trend is not worrying, but instead of waiting to act right before the 3rd wave, we act quickly – BBMP officials
Tightly closed.
The BBMP has begun to seal houses where more than three cases of Covid are reported.
Recently, 16 cases were reported from an apartment complex near Yeshwanthpur and in hostels.
BBMP officials said the seal was carried out as a precautionary measure.
“This is mostly happening in the apartment complex or hostel and so locally we sealed it so we can curb the spread.
This is part of the micro detention zone.
We follow all the protocols.
However, the trend does not need to be worried.
Instead of waiting to act before the start The third wave, we tried to act quickly, “said a BBMP official.
