A longer queue, DMRC says traveling only if you have to

New Delhi: Recent implementation of the yellow level of the Response Response Covid (GRAP) action plan means Metro Delhi is now running at the capacity of 50% seating without passengers standing.
This drastically reduces the number of passengers that can be carried in each trainer and cause serpentine queues outside their stations, encouraging Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to reaffirm advisors Wednesday for commuters on Thursday also – travel only if really important.
“Travel only if it is very important.
Also keeping extra time on your journey with the Metro as an entry must be set to ensure compliance with guidelines (DDMA), which results in a queue outside the station,” said a spokesman for DMRC Dayal Anuj.
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has announced restrictions on Grap Level 1 after a recent surge in Covid-19 cases, including those caused by new Omicron varieties that are very transmitting, in the national capital.
While restrictions come into force on Tuesday, the actual impact has been seen since Wednesday morning.
According to senior officials, fresh restrictions by DDMA meant that the metro train eight coaches, who have the carrying capacity of 2,400 passengers, now only run with around 200 people.
Under normal circumstances, public transport facilities can accommodate around 50 seats and 250 passengers stand in one coach.
The current restriction has taken it to 25.
After the yellow warning enforcement in the national capital, the DMRC has also announced restrictions entering the station to avoid crowding to maintain social distance.
According to DMRC officials, from a total of 712 gates throughout the metro network, only 444 were opened for commuting.
With regulated entries, the queue winding returns to the outside of several stations, which is a common sight during the previous pandemic sidewalk.
