HYDERABAD: Hyderabadi folk casually strolling in their balconies or rushing back home before the lockdown restrictions come into effect were in for a pleasant surprise as a rare sun halo was spotted in the skies on Wednesday afternoon.
Also known as ‘22 degree circular halo’, it is an unusual optical solar spectacle which occurs when the sun’s or moon’s rays get refracted/deflected through the hexagonal ice crystals in the citrus cloud.
Several ordinary Hyderabadi folk became shutterbugs as they looked to capture the halo.
Social media was abuzz with several pics of the phenomenon as city folk captured the spectacle in the sky.
