Mogadishu: A suicide car bomb killed at least seven people in the Somali capital on Saturday at the intersection of the road near the president’s residence, an official said.
“A bomb of the suicide car that exploded in Ceelegaab Junction killed seven people and injured eight others,” Muawiye Mudeey, District Commissioner of the District Hamarjab Mogadishu told Reuters.
Not immediately clear who is responsible for the attack, but Al Shabaab, who wants to overthrow the government and impose its interpretation of Islamic law, often carry out the bombing.
A Reuters witness at the explosion’s place reported seeing seven cars and three pedicabs was destroyed by the explosion, and the entire intersection was covered in blood.
