LONDON: There is intelligence “very, very credible” that guerrillas plan a attack that will happen to those who gather at Kabul airport in an effort to escape from Afghanistan, the Minister of England Armed Forces James Hearpey said on Thursday.
At the end of Wednesday, the British Foreign Ministry advised people not to travel to Kabul Hamid Karzai International Airport where thousands were waiting for flights from the state ahead of August 31 when the United States and its allies would issue their remaining troops.
Hearpey confirmed that the intelligence of the possibility of a suicide bombing by Islamic militants has become “much faster”.
“Now there is an attack report that will happen very, very credible, and hence why suggestions of foreign offices are changed last night, that people should not come to Kabul airport, they must move to a safe place and wait for further instructions,” said BBC Radio Heappey.
“I think there is appetite among many in the queue to take their risk, but reporting this threat is very credible.
There is a real nomination of it.” He said that Western countries rely on the Taliban for security outside the airport, and even though there was a warning there were a large number of people still waiting there.
“I can only say that the threat is severe.
We will do our best to protect those who are there,” he said.
“There is every opportunity that as further reporting in, we might be able to change the suggestions and processes of new people, but there is no guarantee.”
