Mumbai: Aam Aadmi submitted a request to the Mumbai police on Thursday, demanding a case registered with the film actor Kangana Ranana for his reported statement that India achieved freedom in 2014 and what was obtained in 1947.
National Executive Member AAP Preeti Sharma Menon said That statement was “calm and inflammatory”.
AAP strongly condemned condescending statements carried out by Ranaut – claiming that India’s independence in 1947 was “Bheek” and not real independence, said Menon in a tweet.
In another tweet, Menon said they had submitted a request to Mumbai Police, requested action against Ranaut for “Hasik and Inflammatory Statements”, under the Indian Criminal Code 504, 505 and 124A.
Previously on that day, members of BJP Lok Sabha Varun Gandhi also slammed for his remarks, and said it was an anti-national action and had to be called thus.
He also posted a short clip of Ranaut’s comments during the new channel program where he was heard said in Hindi, “it was not freedom but ‘Bheekh’ (alms), and freedom came in 2014.” Ranaut, who recently considered Shri Padma, seemed to refer to the powerful BJP in 2014.
He has triggered controversy in the past with the right-wing comment and Jibes on opposition politicians.
