Ahmedabad: AAM AAM AADMI Party (AAP) has approached the Gujarat High Court who looks for instructions to the State Election Commission (SEC) to allow all prospective candidates to submit a nomination for post board members in Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) who go to polls in October 3.
The election of the GMC was announced on March 19 to be held in April, but they were postponed because of the surge in Covid-19 cases.
The SEC came with another poll schedule, and allowed the submission of nominations for two wards, where two candidates died after submitting their nomination.
AAP claims that the election is canceled and because they will take place next month, seconds must provide an opportunity for all candidates who aspire to submit their nominations in all seats and do not limit to two wards.
The High Court asked the applicant to oppose the SEC in litigation and issued a notification that was looking for a reply on September 25.
