Aapli Bus Daily Ridership passes 1L for the first time in 21 months

Nagpur: Aapli Bus Ridership finally sees uptick.
For the first time a covid-induced restriction, the number of daily passengers on the city bus have crossed a sign of 1 lakh.
A senior official from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) transportation department confirmed, “After almost 21 months, the number of passengers traveling at the Aapli bus fleet in a day goes beyond 1 lakh, and recorded at 1.06 lakh.” It was in early March 2020, when the Aapli bus used to report more than 1.5 lakh passengers every day.
“Now, almost all Aapli bus routes began watching in a hurry,” the official said.
NMC ticket income also increased almost by almost RS2 lakh per day.
According to data, 360 buses make around 4,283 travel on various routes and collectively covers almost 62,217 km every day.
NMC generates daily ticket income between RS15 Lakh-Rs 16 Lakh, compared to RS12 Lakh Pre-Diwali.
For the query, the official said that before the pandemic, NMC was used to operate 360 ​​buses with daily income floating between RS17 Lakh and RS20 Lakh.
The opening of educational institutions has increased the number of passengers on the city bus.
Routes like Sitabuldi to Khaparkheda and Butibori to Hingna get a good response, with Hingna depot topping the revenue chart.
The average income per kilometer (EPK) is being recorded at RS26.28, while income per bus is RS5.015.
The highest EPK is recorded at Orange Street (OS).
The NMC transportation department recorded 28.22 EPK on OS Depot, which mostly operated the bus on the Hingna route.
It was followed by Khapri (Sitabuldi-Butibori route) with EPK 27.17, Patwardhan Depot (Gorewada, Nagnanvan, Yeshodhara, Godhani) with EPK 26.03.
On holidays like Sundays too, the city bus has begun to get a good response from commuting.
On November 19 (Jayanti’s guarantee), The Civic Body recorded 79,485 passengers traveling in 250 Aapli buses which made 3,071 trips on various routes.
But five electric buses only women have not taken.
EPK from this bus floated between RS8 and RS10.63.
NMC each spent RS73.27 per km to operate a standard 240 buses.
Similarly, the operational costs of 150 MIDI and 45 mini buses are RS67.29 per km and RS52.33 per km.
Electric bus operational costs are around RS42.94 per km.
