Srinagar: Nearly 135 armed terrorists ready and waited in their camp or ‘launch of pads’ in Kashmir who was occupied by Pakistan to cross the LOC and entered J & K, while the “guide” of the Indian side had gone to this hiding place to lead them, BSF Kashmir Frontier IG King Babu Singh said on Monday.
BSF has placed its troops at high warnings along the Indian-Pakistani border after intelligence input suggested a terrorist infiltration plan and that anti-national elements can create problems during the Republican Day at J & K.
“Our input shows that there are 104 to 135 terrorists in launch bearings Which is ready to infiltrate this side, “said BSF IG.
Some “guides” have crossed the LOC and reached Pok and “their movements are being tracked and their families under constant supervision”, he said.
The overall situation along the Loc in Kashmir has been peaceful since the ceasefire agreement between the two countries last year, said Babu at the BSF headquarters in Humhama on the outskirts of Srinagar.
Another area that was a concerning BSF was the threat of drones flown from Pakistan’s side for supervision and to bring down weapons, bombs, and material at J & K.
BSF IG said his troops maintained 96 km from Loc in Kashmir and the drone threat was real.
“We get our own drone to fight threats.
A series of counter steps also exist,” he said.
According to Frontier Jammu BSF IG DK Boora, the troops are at a high warning since last week to thwart “evil efforts with anti-national elements from across the border” to disrupt the Republican security situation.
“BSF has announced vigilance which increased two weeks along the border,” he said at Jammu.
BSF patrols carry out a broad drive to prevent terrorists and narcotics smugglers from tunnels that dig for cross-border movements and to stop the ferry, said Boora.
The troops were difficult for their duty in “very hostile weather conditions”, he said.
The Counter Frontier Kashmir said BSF seized 17.3 kg of Heroin worth Rs 88 Crore from smugglers along the LOC last year.
