Agartala: Communal friction in North Tripura flared again after a BJP student wing leader was stabbed on Friday in front of the KaiLashahar police station, encouraging the administration of the Uneakoti Regency to clamping part 144 in the area.
ABVP members who were injured were critical, identified as Shivaji Sengupta, were attacked during confrontation with groups outside the institution of R K in KaiLashahar, where the organization of students had organized the drive of membership.
The police said the situation in the district was tense after a mosque was allegedly damaged by alleged supporters of BJP MLA Sudhangshu Das in Palbazar.
In a suspected counter-attack, a temple in the Kailashahar region of the Kembjar was damaged later.
The Minister of Baghaban Das, CPI-M Mla Mabaswar Ali and the leader of the Senior Badrujaminan Congress visited the area to calm the population.
Subdivisional administration, also, initiated a peace meeting with community leaders to restore normal and repair damage caused by mosques and temples.
The police have banned religious, rallies or church meetings throughout the state.
Security has been estimated at and around the temple and areas with mixed populations.
The clash rope began last week after VHP took a procession to protest the attack on minority Hinduism in neighboring Bangladesh.
