Mumbai: The three Indian naval sailors who were killed in the explosion on a rajput class destroyer, INS Ranvir, at the naval shipyard in Mumbai on Tuesday took a nap during the work break, Colaba police said.
Prima Facie, the explosion occurred because of damage to the 4,000-ton ‘air-conditioned air conditioner compartment – related to the freon gas leak, said a source.
11 Members of the injured crew were undergoing treatment and stabilized conditions.
“Three victims fell asleep three floors lower than the main entrance of the ship when the blast occurred.
Those who suffered injuries were in the chaos on the second lower floor,” said a police officer.
