Academic Council recommends changes that are contrary to NEP: JNU teacher association

New Delhi: With the help of implementing national education policies, the JNU Academic Council recommends “contradictory” changes to the policy itself and will result in the conversion of the University of “Intensive research to teach”, Jnuta said on Friday.
However, JNU Deputy Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar, in response to these accusations, said the council, which is a university peak body, is “more representative” of all institutions and administrations must follow the decision.
Safe! You have managed to throw your voteogin to see the results of “NEP clearly imagine two types of universities – teaching intensive universities and intensive research.
“However, the JNU Apex Committee, without appreciating policy in the right perspective, has recommended starting several cross-centered integrated teaching programs and schools at universities that will result in the conversion of the country’s main intensive universities to be teaching.
Intensive universities,” said President Jnuta Milip C Sharma in a statement.
Sharma said, “This is contrary to the NEP frame and actually undermines its purpose.”
NEP, who replaced the 34-year-old national policy on Education (NPE), 1986, imagined the spacious, multi-disciplinary, holistic undergraduate education with a flexible curriculum, a creative combination of subjects, integration of vocational education and several entries and out points with appropriate certification.
“When the country is still recovering from the damage to the second wave of Covid, it is ironic that the country’s major education institutions such as JNU must push forward with changes imagined in the NEP 2020 without substantive debate.
“On August 17, at the 158th academic council meeting, the representative of Chancellor JNU caregiver introduced many changes in substantive nature which in principle contradicts NEP, with the guise of carrying out the NEP,” he said.
Kumar, however, said the APEX body was “more representative” of all universities and that the government had to follow the body’s decision.
“The Academic Council, which is the highest legal entity, and consists of school deans and departments, has been unanimously approved the implementation of national education policies and then the executive board also agreed.
“We must follow this body’s decision.
The Academic Council represents all universities because everyone is there,” he told PTI.
Teacher’s body, who also accused the “lack of consultation”, said they did not know the recommendation of the APEX body until they were officially placed and then approved at the 158th academic council meeting on August 17.
It also questioned the 18-member APEX body constitution which looked at various components of NEP 2020, and called it “tilted”.
“On November 19, 2020, at the 155th academic council meeting that Chancellor’s representative first announced the decision to appoint APEX’s body consisting of 18 members to see various components of NEP 2020.
“The APEX body constitution is tilted because it does not include representations of large schools,” claimed in the statement.
Recommendations and Approval for Medical Schools and Super Special Hospitals in JNU, according to Jnuta, provide another example of “Malaise that interferes with the current decision-making equipment in the University”.
“Faculty involvement that works on various aspects of health administration in deliberation and the absence of explicit reasons clearly explains the reason why such structures should be in JNU, given that the university is located in green.
The area whose authority is legally bound to protect, making it difficult to make Uncertain support for such a project, “he explained.
Also, open reception administration at this time in court about “lack of funds” for the Covid Care Center in JNU, raises questions where and who will finance such structures, he added.
Raising questions about various financial irregularities and frequent incidents of workers – including sanitation staff, gardeners, computer operators used on contracts – do not receive their salaries for months, it also shows how the academic expenditure of the Institute between 2018-19 and 2019-20 has dropped By “more than 30 percent” under Kumar, the body accused.
“Academic expenses for example in four years from 2016-17 to 2019-20 are less than RS.
120 crores under near RS.
137 Crores was spent in a period of four years 2012-13 to 2015-16, despite the increase in price level,” it was claimed.
