The Indian documentary feature ‘Writing with API’ has been nominated for the best documentary features in Oscar 2022.

The film recorded the resurrection of Khabar Lahariya, the only Indian newspaper run by a Dalit woman.
The documentary was directed by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh, also debutant.
The film follows this ambitious group Dalit Wonder Women – led by their main reporter, Meera – as a team switching from printing to digital to remain relevant.
Armed with a smartphone and the courage and confidence of a person must be born with, they investigate the inability of local police, listening and supporting caste and gender violence victims, and challenging dangerous long practices that lead to injustice and intimidation.

Ceremony, celebrating the best films from one year where a tired audience of Covid slowly returned to the cinema, will be held on March 27.
The nominated film, actor and filmmaker was launched at the pre-dawn live-streaming ceremony held by actor Leslie Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross.
