Malda: The 32-year-old BJP Yuva Morcha leader died of a gunshot wound near the house in North Dinajpur on Sunday, triggering a game blaming politics in the district.
While BJP saw “Trinamool’s conspiracy” in the death of Mithun Ghosh, the Trinamool Congress has denied the allegations.
The police have arrested one person, but still maintained “no political tone” in death.
BJP has called eight hours in North Dinajpur on Tuesday.
The deceased had dinner at a restaurant with two acquaintances, Sukumar Ghosh and Santosh Mahanto, earlier at night and then around 10 a third night went to Mithun’s house where he seemed to want to show the firearm he had just bought.
One of the weapons went accidentally and Mithun took a bullet in the stomach, police said.
His cousin Ajit Ghosh rushed to Raiganj Hospital, where the doctor stated he was taken dead.
“We have arrested Manganto and looked for Sukumar,” said SP Arsh Verma and added, “There is no political tone here.
It was an accidental shot.” Bengal President BJP and MP Balurghat Sukanta Majumdar refused to buy the police version of the incident.
“I know Mithun Ghosh as an active organizer in my constituency.
He has faced a threat from Trinamool since the assembly poll.
He did not huddle under threat.
I was afraid of the conspiracy behind his death,” said Majumdar.
MP also accused the police in a hurry noting ajit statement and not talking to the parents of the deceased.
“We had information that the Trinamool Goon Kasem Ali with Mithun last night.
Ali has gone to the underground since then.
The police did not say his name.
We want all the culprit captured.
We can move the High Court, if necessary, for the CBI investigation,” said Majumdar .
Majumdar also pointed to one finger at the Trinamool Local Mla Mostarraf Hossain, which denied the allegations.
“This is a proven fact that BJP leaders keep firearms in their homes.
This death does not have a connection with Trinamool.
The police came out to arrest the perpetrators,” Hossain said.
