Act, T’Gana GOVT set more than 3K Wi-Fi hotspots in HYD

Hyderabad: In one of the spread of the largest public wi-fi hotspots in the country, the Atria Convergence Technologies Ltd.
together with the state government has completed installing more than 3,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots throughout Hyderabad for the past three years as part of Hy-Fi project.
This hotspot includes public places such as metro stations, malls, government schools, police stations and Basti Dawakhana, among others.
Act Fibernet CEO, Bala Malladi, showed almost four lakh people using this service every month in the pre-pandemic period.
The numbers dropped to around one lakh during locking but finally recovered to almost three lakh.
He said the company would review the use of Wi-Fi services in several busy areas and in the coming days, it could add 500 other hotspots.
Malladi, however, did not disclose the company’s investment and said the service was offered to the pro-bono government.
Announcing historical milestones, KT Rama Rao, Minister of Industry and IT, Telangana, said the initiative assumed the importance in the “covid world” where there was a higher boost in digitizing.
He also suggested that the GHMC take responsibility for maintaining a Wi-Fi hotspot.
