Nagpur: After declaring the rules of this shrub coverage, the state administration on Monday introduced the moments of the cabinet assembly.
Although it isn’t known as the new standards will develop into force, town environmentalists have resorted to say ministry Aaditya Thackeray to not’await formalities’ and desperately intervene at the Ajni Vann situation to save tens of thousands of trees.
TOI had lately reported that after rules come into force, they’re most likely to make matters hard for its tough Inter Modal Station (IMS) project, for which approximately 5,000 old trees in Ajni are scheduled to be trimmed at the very first stage.
The new criteria say that if greater than 200 trees aged five decades or more have to be felled, then the situation will be called to Maharashtra State Tree Authority.
But, specialists said the town shouldn’t lose this green cover only because executing the new rules will take some time.
“The government has recognized that trees over 50-year-old are legacy trees, which the choice of felling over 200 trees shouldn’t be at the control of the community body.
Imagine if at the time that the principles come into force, we’ve lost Ajni Vann? It’ll be an irreparable harm and people appeal to say environment minister Aaditya Thackeray to quickly intervene,” said youthful green crusader Kunal Mourya.
Stating that the rules do not say anything regarding pending tree-felling suggestions, attorney and activist Ankita Shah stated,”To rescue green lungs confronting immediate danger, the condition should expedite the procedure for implementing new guidelines or contribute in a supply to place such jobs on hold.
Thackeraybeing a childhood star and a winner for surroundings, should intervene and rescue Ajni Vann like he’d Aarey.” In Nagpur, present jobs which have felling over 200 trees will be IMS stage 1 in Ajni, felling 249 trees in Futala from MahaMetro, also felling 250 trees in the premises of National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (Neeri) to get Ajni subway station’s parking space, besides a few other jobs.
Environmentalist Anasuya Kale Chhabrani stated that until the current legislation is amended, country must place a stay on suggested projects between felling of over 200 trees.
“Despite getting thousands of information, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) hasn’t conducted the public hearing.
Now, these instances should immediately get moved to the country tree jurisdiction,” she added.
The final date for submitting pledges for tree felling at Ajni is June 30.
