Chennai: Six years after the release of the Tamil ‘VIP’ film starring Danush, Madras High Court has directed the government to start all further actions against Wunderbar films, filmmakers, to promote cigarettes.
“Treatment for tobacco-related diseases and loss of productivity caused by this country nearly 13,500 crores every year, more than offsets of all benefits obtained in the form of income and work produced by the tobacco industry,” Judicial said on Friday.
The problem is related to the defense by S Cyril Alexander, Convenor State, TN People’s Forum for Tobacco Control (TNPFTC), looking for action against film producers for violating the provisions of cigarettes and other tobacco products (ban and trade and trade and trade regulations, production, supply and distribution) Law, 2003.
The applicant also wants the court to direct the center to take action against the central film board certification for failing to examine the violation and giving the film’s permission.
Let the request, the judge said: “This court argues that the objectives and objects act very important.” The object of this action is to ensure that the right to life is enshrined by Article 21 of the Constitution, which is a fundamental right.
Passive smokers are largely and more affected than active smokers are observations carried out by experts, the court said.
Universal tobacco is considered one of the main health hazards and is directly responsible or indirectly for the estimated eight lakh deaths every year in this country, he added.
In this situation, comprehensive laws are enforced and if the authorities fail to apply the provisions of action, they do not only violate the provisions of the action, but firmly violate the fundamental rights of residents, the court said.
