Margao: New City Market Traders, Margao, on Friday Gheroo, Chair of the Municipal Council Margao (MMC), Lyndon Pereira, demanded action against illegal encroachment on roads outside the market by traders.
Led by the President of the New Market Traders Association, Vinod Shirodkar, the traders marched to Margao Municipality to voice their complaints before the civil authorities.
The traders showed to Pereira that roadside vendors who sell goods ranging from flowers and incense with clothes and footwear eat into their business in front of the Diwali festival.
They asked questions about MMC market inspectors in reining in illegal encroachment by roadside vendors.
Traders also show Pereira the need to make improvements and maintenance work from the market warehouse.
By stating that the lights on the market did not function, traders said that it pose a threat to the security of their customers, especially women, during late at night.
With almost a few days for Diwali, there are customer rollers in the new city market.
Pereira convinced traders that MMC would win no illegal in the city market and that the demands of the traders would be seen.
Then talking to reporters, Pereira said that he, along with the MMC Market Committee, will conduct market inspections on Saturday to take stock situations.
“There will definitely be taken against all illegality,” Pereira said.
