Acting with determination in Afghanistan, said the head of the United Nations

New York: When the humanitarian situation continued to deteriorate in Afghanistan, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday said countries must unite and act urgently to secure a better future for Afghan people.
The head of the United Nations delivered a message on Wednesday during the country’s neighboring regional conference, which was held by Iran, the new UN reported.
According to media reports, Foreign Minister Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan participated in a meeting held in Tehran, with Russian and Chinese colleagues joined the video.
“Afghanistan faces an epic humanitarian crisis and is on the verge of development disaster,” said the head of the United Nations in a video message.
Guterres urged the country to talk to one voice.
“We can only achieve more stability with a united approach.
Together, let’s act with determination – and without delay – to help Afghans and to secure a better future for all.” The head of the United Nations described four fields to act, which he said was a regional and international problem, starting with humanitarian assistance.
He reported that the United Nations was carrying out a “massive” humanitarian operation in the country, even though there were major obstacles.
“We have acted with Taliban cooperation, which progressively gives access to the area requested and provides security if needed,” he said.
In addition, Guterres thanked neighboring countries because of their assistance with moving assistance workers and supplies.
He also highlights the need for sustainable collaboration on refugee problems, by saying “international support for hosting countries must be in accordance with the scale of needs.” The UN Chairperson emphasized the need to work together to revive the Afghan economy on the threshold of collapsing.
“The liquidity of injections to the Afghan economy can be done without violating international law or compromise principles,” he said.
The Afghan people also need inclusive and representative governance, he added, who respects international humanitarian law and upholds human rights and fundamental freedom.
