Pune: Deputy Chief of Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday said the district government would take decisions next week to take stern steps against those who deliberately missed the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
He said the government would first persuade they missed their second dose to take a second shot through the door-to-door campaign.
“If people still refuse and do not work together, we must decide to take firm action,” he said.
The minister said a large number of people had avoided taking second doses in Baramati, Daund and Indapur Tehsils, among others.
He said that at this time it would be focused on pursuing these people to get Jab.
A similar approach will also be taken at the state level, until every decision about the sterner steps on “Syrkers” is taken, he said.
“Talucas data lagged behind in managing the second dose will be shared with selected representatives to ensure that they can also help in vaccinating them.
It is true that people are somewhat reluctant to take the second dose, but after the recent developments (Omicron), vaccination speed increases , and the queue is being watched outside the center of inoculation, “said the pawar said, emphasizing the increasing rural vaccination area.
“Doctors in the task force (state) (Covid-19) have suggested that we have to provide the first second dose and if we succeed in that situation, the situation will be good,” he said.
The district guard minister said Pune collector and chief executive Zilla Parishad will work with administration and mobilize workers to reach those who delay the second dose through the Har Ghar Dastak campaign this week.
“Drives will be made to ensure that beneficiaries are convinced to take the second dose on time,” said the pawar, after meeting the district Covid Review Sunday.
Quoting advice from members of duty tasks and health experts after the Omicron variant, Pawar said the main objective for all countries must ensure a quick and complete vaccination of all adult beneficiaries.
“Pune District has reached 100% of the first dose vaccination but is left in the second dose in certain talucas.
Vaccination programs have been taken in the last 10 days with an average of 60,000-70,000 residents vaccinated every day,” he said.
