Ahmedabad: Tourism Zone Adalaaj Stepwell-based theme developed by the state government will now be released to private investors in public-private partnership mode.
Investors must design, build, finance and operate places to attract tourists.
The area to be developed into a potential tourism zone is approximately 23,500 square meters around Stepwell.
“There are no major construction activities that will be permitted within 100 m up to 300M Stepwell radius, except for special circumstances where a person will need permission from the National Monument Authority,” The Tourism Department said, putting clear guidelines for investors.
For example, there will be a museum developed by TCGL to show off history, architecture and other features of Adalaj Stepwell.
Theme-based parks outside protected boundaries are also recommended under the project.
A copy of the project proposal is with TOI.
“The developer must bear 30% of the project costs.
Also, there are provisions to allow a banquet place, establish multi-cuisine restaurants and hold retail activities including bazaar crafts,” said a senior TCGL official.
The Ministry of Feeling Adalaj has tourism potential because Gandhinagar is located along the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor which is expected to be the main growth area in the future.
