Nagpur: Adani Power Maharashtra Limited has bagged a 20-30km coal block from the city, in Gondkhairi, in Tranche both mine auctions for commercial exploitation.
Seven blocks in the area were placed in blocks by the Coal Ministry, and two blocks given had gone to the private sector.
Other blocks are in Bhivkund in the Chandrapur district.
It has gone to Sunflag Iron and Steel Company Limited.
Each block has a geological reserve of 83 and 102 million tons.
The allocated block is for underground mine, which consumes less soil compared to the OpenCast mine.
There are no offer received for four blocks and one offer comes for another, which leads to process notifications.
Like Gondkhairi, the Hingna-Bazärgaon block, also close to the city.
However, there is no offer received for it.
Other PSU mines have been operating within 30-60 km from the city of Nagpur.
Only two companies each take part in auction for Gondkhairi and Bhivkund blocks.
The government has decided a few months ago to continue the auction even if only two bidders took part, said a source.
These blocks have been allocated to other companies under the previous direct allotment system, which later leads to coalgate controversy.

The Gondkhaairi block is along the Nagpur-Amravati road, without villages in the block itself, and the nearest place to stay in Gondkhairi Village, Waddhamna and Kalamambi.
This block had previously been allocated for three companies; Maharashtra Seamless, Dhariwal infrastructure, and the unauthorized industry.
The Hingna-Bazargaon block was in Hingna, and was previously allocated to Mahagenco, who surrendered to quoting unfi-riability based on consultant reports.
Hingna Mla Sameer Mela BJP also opposed the mine, said it would displace a number of people.
Good Adani Power and Sunflag bid for the Batubara Block Gondkhairi.
Adani won by offering a rate of 9.5% above basic prices, ensuring government annual income from RS122 Crore.
Sunflag Pipped Aurobondio Reality – Pharma Arm Aurbino Hyderabad, by offering a 9% premium at a basic price, giving the RS799.35 Crore Government a year.
Aurobindo Realty has received the Towli-Jena coal block in the Chandrapur district at the previous auction round held in December last year.
Other coal blocks offered are Dahegaon-Makardhokra IV, Khapa & Extension, Dhapewada-Tondakhiri-Khandala, Hingna-Bazaargaon, and Kalambi-Kalmeshwar.
Only one offer received for Block Dahegaon-Makardhokra IV, and no offer received for the remaining four.
Adani Power Maharashtra runs the Tiroda power plant in the Gondia district.
A spokesman for the company in Ahmedabad confirmed its development, without providing further details.
SK Gupta, who heads Sunflag Iron and Steel Limited, said there were no plans compiled.
However, the company plans to start the earliest operation.
Coal in this block can be mined for commercial sales or captive use.
Block Adani has more than 110 hectares of forest areas.
There is no forest area in the Bhivkund block.
