ADB Keen to offer loans for the Patna Metro Rail project

Patna: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is ready to offer loans for the Patna Metro Rail project to assist in the expansion of the Corridor and alignment of the Metro, an official of Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) said.
This will help in the expansion of the corridor and metro-alignments in the future.
“The ADB delegation met with PMRC officials to discuss the ongoing Metro project work and progress and offer a country to take loans from them instead of other places.
But we have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Japanese International Corporation (JICA) and hopes for immediately Get a loan.
ADB is ready to expand support for further expansion in the Metro, station and alignment and they submit offers in the first round meeting with them.
If everything goes well, we can plan the possibility of Metro expansion, “the official said.
According to sources in urban development and the housing department (UDHD), ADB has worked with state governments on various urban development projects.
About 80% of the land needed for the project has been obtained because most of the state of the state government while most of the land for the construction of the ISBT Patna Metro Rail Depot will be obtained in the next few months.
Land measuring 76 hectares in Ranipur and Pahadi areas will be used for the ISBT metro station and depot.
The state government has gave RS1,000 sanctions for land acquisition.
Patna Municipal Corporation has also moved land in Mithapur, near Sachivalaya and Akashvani in Fraser Road and Patna Junction while another piece of land near the Patna Science College will be given soon.
Because big assets already exist, UDHD officials have written to JICA to provide lions for the Metro project.
JICA officials recently visited the site and met with PMRC officials to discuss future actions.
“The problems related to land acquisition have been resolved and we hope to get funds from JICA immediately.
Even if it’s delayed, we will have another option for a loan,” the official said.
The estimated cost of the Metro Patna project is RS13.365.77 Crore (not including land acquisition costs, which will be borne by the state government).
The states and centers each will bear 20% of the project costs and the remaining 60% will be borrowed as loans from JICA.
The work has been going on on a stretch of corridor II 6.1 km from Malahi Pakri to ISBT, which includes five stations – Malahi Pusti, Khemnichich (interchangeable station), BHOOTNATH, Zerbe Mile and ISBT.
This stretch is also known as a priority corridor.
According to officials, 112 pillars have been made from Malahi Pakri to Bhootnath while the pillars at all 210 will be developed for the network elevated by corridor II.
Pile work has also been starting from Zero Mil to ISBT, which is likely to be ready in December 2022.

The total length of the corridor II is 14.5 km, from Patna Junction to new ISBT, including a 7.9km underground network.
