Adi Badri Dam: Himachal, Haryana Sign Mou

Shimla: The government of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana signed the MoU in Panchkula on Friday for the construction of Adi Badri dam which will appear in 77 hectares in Himachal Pradesh near the Adi Badri area in Yamuna Nagar District of Haryana.
Head of Ministle Himachal Pradesh Jai Ram Thakur and his colleague Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar was present on that occasion.
The proposed dam aims to rejuvenate the Saraswati River with an estimated cost of Rs 215.35 Crore.
The main secretary of the two countries signed the MoU on behalf of the two countries.
Jai Ram Thakur said that with the signing of this MoU, the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be fulfilled which has shown his commitment to revive the Saraswati River while talking to people on April 3, 2014 in Kurukshetra.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the project will also be very useful for Himachal Pradesh as water meter 3.92 hectares per year will be intended for Himachal Pradesh for drinking water needs and 57.96 hectares of meters for the demands of irrigation water from the project.
He said that the dam would not only be used primarily for the revival of the Saraswati River, but also helped in water conservation in the region.
He said that all project funding would be regulated by the government Haryana.
He said that the two governments would be free to prepare tourism projects and other infrastructure facilities that might be needed for the welfare and development of local communities from their own resources, without sacrificing the main objective of the project.
He said that only 21 families would be transferred and they would be rehabilitated well and the cost of rehabilitation packages for oustees and environmental protection packages in accordance with the prevalent policies of Himachal Pradesh and other local laws or other unexpected costs / expenses in this case related With Adi Badri Dam in the future will be borne by the government Haryana and no obligation on this account will be forwarded to Himachal Pradesh Jai Ram Thakur saying that on the completion of this project, the Saraswati River will return to life.
He said that of the total area proposed, 31.16 hectares of land fell in Himachal which included 0.67 hectares’ personal land and 30.49 hectares of forest land.
He said that the dam would get 224 hectares of water meters from the Sombal Himachal Pradesh which crashed in Yamuna near Adi Badri in the Yamunanagar district.
He said that HPPCL will carry out the Dam Dam Agency Adi Badri and related infrastructure.
