Adi passed the hand on the Godrej stick

Mumbai: Adi Godrej dropped from the Godrej Industrial Board – both as chairman and director – which made it the last of the companies listed from the RS 32,000 Crore Godrej Group where the 79-year-old patriarch had passed on the stick for his successor.
Godrej Industries said these changes to the board will be effective October 1.
His sister, Nadir Godrej, who is the implementing director of Godrej Industries, will take over as a CMD company.
Godrej Industries is a parent company, which has interests in consumer goods, agriculture, real estate, chemicals and financial services, in addition to installing new businesses.
ABG, when Adi Burjorji Godrej is known, will, however, will continue as the chairman of the GODREJ group and 124-year-old chairman and Chairman of Emeritus Godrej.
For decades, ABG has maintained the growth of these companies in direct leadership style, and also brings leading professional talents to compete with multinational rivals.
Under his leadership, fashion soap Godrej has become a formidable competitor for the Hindustan Unilever Market leader (Hul).
Godrej Group is a different legal entity conglomerate, some of which are listed on the Stock Exchange.
It was controlled by the Godrej family, with Cousin Adi Godrej Jamshyd Godrej Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company.
Part of the group so far managed by Adi Godrej (Godrej Industries, Godrej consumer products, Godrej Properties and Godrej Agrovet) are gradually forwarded to the next generation of leaders.
Part of the group supervised directly by ABG is now more than RS 20,000 Crore combined.
At the young age of 21, when Adi Godrej has taken control of Godrej soap (now GCPL), like MD in 1963, turnover slightly more than Rs 2 Crore.
Under his leadership, where new marketing skills and strategies were deployed, the company’s change jumped to almost Rs 8 Crore in 1967, growth described as “a river region in its history” in the book about B Karanjia Godrejj.
In 1995, Godrej Soaps turnover was at a striking distance from the RS 600 Crore.
Under ABG, the group has also gained wider global insights through short-term bonds with MNCs such as Procter & Gamble, Sara Lee and Pilsbury, among others.
ABG’s leadership style is different from its predecessors and mentors, even though the core goal is very obeyed.
If the pre-independence of The Godrej Group is known for its swadeshi encouragement, ABG looked at MNC rivals such as Hul as a customer to whom the group supplies raw materials to make soap.
In 2017, Godrej had dropped from the Godrej Board of Properties as well, while in Godrej Agrovet, the Board was chaired by Nadir Godrej.
His son, Pirojsha Godrej heads the Godrej property.
“It has become a privilege to serve Godrej Industries for more than four decades, where we have provided strong results and change our company.
I thank our council for their support and guidance; to all members of our team who desire, commitment, And hard work has encouraged our success; and to all customers, business partners, shareholders, investors, and our community, for their sustainable partnerships.
I am very sure that our best years are in front of us, and I am looking forward to Nadir and our team Reach our interesting aspirations, “Godrej said.
Last week, Godrej consumer products (GCPL) announced that it was effective September 30, 2021, Adi Godrej will withdraw from the council and will continue to become emeritus.
His daughter Nisaba Godrej has taken over leadership as chair of the largest single company (RS 11,000 Crore Turnover) in the group.
