Sindri: The Dhanbad government on Wednesday evening started moving several households residing in the property subsidence likely zones of this Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL)-possessed Jharia coalfields to reduce loss of lives because of intense storm Yaas. As many as 13 households were requested to go to safer grounds out of Rajpur Basti Number 7 of BCCL’s Area 9. “Regardless of BCCL’s finds to vacate the property, the households were residing there. Their houses have created cracks and smoke will be emanating in the cracks surrounding their homes. Consequently, they have been changed to larger reasons,” Dhanbad SDO Surendra Kumar told TOI. BCCL’s general director Somnath Chatterjee said:”Threat of property subsidence grows during heavy rains, that the cyclone will attract about.” BCCL requested its offices to stay alert and requested the households residing in Area 9 and Area 10 to move to safer locations. Notices were glued to the walls of their homes in Lilori Pathra, Balugadda, Lodna along with different places.
