Bhubaneswar: a bad response from worshipers on the idea of buying wheels dismantled Rath Yatra Chariots can encourage administration of Temple Shree Jagannath (SJTA) in Puri to contribute parts of government costs.
Such a proposal was debated on Friday after SJTA found that around 135 wheels had collected dust which remained unsettled for years.
SJTA plans to produce standard operating procedures (SOP) for dissoping parts that are not sold from the train.
Every year, the train is dismantled at the end of Rath Yatra.
Log demolition first sent to the temple kitchen to be used as firewood.
The administration of the temple began selling wheels and three other parts (Guja, Prabha and Asuar) from Chariots from 2013 and so on to generate income for the temple.
Wheels used to cost Rs 50,000 while Prabha is available for Rs 25,000.
Every guja and asbai are priced at rs 20,000.
However, the temple administration cuts the price half in 2017 after the response of luke-luke-lukewarm.
Now, wheels are available for RS 25,000, Guja for RS 10,000, Prabha for Rs 12,500 and Asuari for RS 10,000.
“We have a total of 420 wheels from the 2012 Rath Yatra and so on.
But only 230 wheels are sold.
About 135 remains not sold, while 55 has been damaged.
Because there are very few buyers, we plan to donate them to various offices run by the State Government Parts and centers in Odisha.
The final decision will be taken soon, “said a temple official.
The temple government is likely to look for applications from interested government offices that are willing to accept parts of the train.
If the temple body receives more applications, they can use the lottery system to choose the recipient.
Every year, the state government supplys 13,000 cubic feet of wood worth more than 80 lakh rs for the construction of three trains.
The height of Taladhwaja Charan Lord Baabhadra is 45ft and has 14 wheels, Nandighosha from Lord Jagannath is 45.6ft with 16 wheels and Darpadalana from the Devi Subhadra is 12.6ft with 12 wheels.
