Gumla: The SIMDEGA government built its own disaster response team to prevent losses from sinking or flooding.
90 men have been selected to undergo training under the national disaster response rate (NDRF) for the same thing.
Deputy Commissioner Sushant Gaurav said, “The District Response Team will employ local youth and they will become the first respondent if there is an accident.
It will allow us to save life.
The NDRF team will be called only when a local team cannot handle a big disaster.” Sub- SIMDEGA Division Mahendra Kumar said 57 young men, who knew swimming, have been selected from various blocks and has been registered with a two-day training camp.
“Forty men were more trained in Kobang Dam under the Pakartarn block while 22 people from the previous batch were trained in Kelaghagh Dam,” Kumar added.
They were trained by the 11-member NDRF team in various engineering swimming and boating and saved people from high river currents and from sinking.
“We have chosen these people from Block Simdega, Kolebira, Pakartarn, Kersai and Bolba after they show their interest in saving life if there is a disaster in every part of the district,” Kumar said.
There are three main dams, several rivers and rivulet in the district where the incident sinks are reported almost every monsoon.
