Nagpur: To avoid repetition of the crisis witnessed during the second wave, the district government has begun to hoard and create an inventory of drugs and material needed as part of the preparation for the projected to the third wave of Covid-19.
The plan is to have a stock of at least one month.
The Office of Civil Surgeons (CS), District Health Officers and Chief Medical Officer of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) have encountered the blueprint of drug needs.
The procurement process has also begun with CS acting as a nodal officer coordinating with the public health department under the supervision of the Vimla R.
Collector’s supervision and medical kits will be used in 10 rural hospitals and two sub-district hospitals (Kamptek and Ramtek).
The Zilla Parishad Health Office District also has stock of medicines and medical kits for the primary health center.
CEO of ZP Yogesh Kumbhejkar said, “We have received several drugs and more on the road.” NMC Medical Health Officers, Dr.
Sanjay Chilkar have sent the requirements to the CS office for 1,000 bottles of remodesivir, 1,000 bottles of methyl prednisolone, 2,000 ceftriaxone injections, 2,000 units of low molecular and other enoxaparin weight for hospitals and civic body clinics.
According to experts and private practitioners, administration must also focus on other important drugs such as Tocilizumab and monoclonal antibody cocktail therapy for around RS1.20 lakh pair.
Dr.
Nitin Shinde’s infectious specialist said that monoclonal antibodies would be important in the third wave projected “which might occur in October”.
“Toilizumab and remedies will remain among the main priority drugs,” he said.
Professor of Community Medicine, Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Dr.
Susayush Thakre said that drugs must be taken into account in the mind estimated to be estimated.
