New Delhi: The seminar room in the seven-story emergency block at the LNJP Hospital where the fire was reported in the early hours on Monday it was locked when it happened, and the alertness and presence of the mind shown by the facility staff was avoided by the main incident, a senior official said.
The 1,500 bed facility is the largest hospital run by the Delhi government, and also the center of the courage of the city fighting against the Pandemic Coronavirus.
“The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m.
and some of our staff saw the smoke out of the seminar room, which was locked.
Shows vigilance, they opened the room immediately and used a small fire extinguisher to remove it as much as possible, until the fire tender arrived,” said the official Senior hospital.
The fire broke out in the seminar room, located on the ground floor of the emergency block, and all patients immediately shifted, he said.
There were no victims reported, Delhi Fire Service officials said earlier that day.
“The room was locked and if our staff had not been alert, it could turn into a large incident.
Their presence and the presence of the mind shifted a large fire incident, as happened in a multi-floor block.
The power supply is short.
Snapped too, but we shift all patients On the floor to another area when smoke spreads, “said LNJP hospital officials, also a senior doctor, said.
These rooms are used to do training sessions for doctors and other staff, he said.
The official said that his staff were trained in firefighters and the training was useful.
“Also, our staff, both doctors, nurses or other people, have seen the most challenging time during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, and therefore have made them harder, I believe in handling the crisis situation,” he added.
Officials at the facility, located in the heart of Delhi, said the cause of the fire was not confirmed but the smoke came out of the AC ventilation, which showed a short circuit might cause it.
Atul Garg, Director of Delhi Fire Service, previously said, “Six Fire Tenders rushed to place,” added that the cause of the fire was confirmed.
