Ranchi: Ranchi District Bar Association (RDBA) has asked the Southern Chhotanagpur division Commissioner Nitin Kulkarni to suspend the administrative court work for 15 days, given the surge in Covid-19 cases.
The Secretary General of Rbda Sanjay Vidrohi said the courtroom was generally packed with lawyers because of the large number of cases were listed every day.
On Monday, 160 cases were in the list of causes, he said, emphasizing that many lawyers now dropped with Covid and the suspension of physical trials would help examine the spread.
“The number of infected advocates every day is alarming.
RT-PCR test is being carried out at the Bar Building since January 4 and 50 positive advocates in the first two days.
Around a dozen advocates found positive on Tuesday,” he added.
Rdba has also written a similar letter to Deputy Commissioner Ranchi a few days earlier.
The court was held by administrative officers dealing with land disputes, elections and appeals.
In particular, the Ranchi District Court has stopped physical hearings while taking virtual hearings only important problems.
