Pune: The Asian Cup bandwagon will roll in Pune.
The Shiv Chhatrapati sports complex will host the C group team for their league matches starting January 21.
Pune will host the match for Group C consisting of former Japanese world champion, South Korea, Myanmar and Vietnam with Japan and Myanmar opened action here.
The team will arrive in the city on Sunday and will be placed in a variety of secure hotels.
Group C will include several top international players, including Japanese Skipper Saki Kumagai, which is part of the Japanese World Cup winning team in 2011.
Kumagai, who has scored firmly against the US in the final.
Veterans are now playing for Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga.
Other leading players from Japan will advance where Iwabuchi is also part of the Japanese WC team in 2011 and has represented many English-speaking clubs.
He represents Arsenal now.
Mid-Fielder Yui Hasegawa, who played for West Ham United, will play for Japan in Pune.
South Korea has also submitted a team that includes players who represent various international clubs.
Mid-Fielders Cho So-Hyun (Tottenham Hotspur), Ji So-Yun (Chelsea) and Lee Geum-Min (Brighton) will be a star tourist spot.
The Maharashtra Department of Sports – Host – set up a venue with two heating land in the complex with two back-ups in the city.
“We have maintained the St Vincent School Ground at Camp and Symbiosis College Plound in Lavale ready as a place for heating backup,” said Maharashtra Sports Director, Om Prakash Bakoria.
“We have also replaced old spotlights with new LED lights in Balewadi.
It will not only save energy at least 7 percent, but will also illuminate more lumen,” he said.
The new bathroom for the team room has been made along with increasing grass in the main field.
The government has spent more than 21 crores for improvement.
