Afghan Crisis: NSA Ajit Doval held talks with Nikolai Patrushev Russia

New Delhi: India and Russia on Tuesday discussed prospects to launch a peaceful settlement process based on intra-afghanistan dialogue.
Both countries agreed to coordinate the Russian and Indian approach in multilateral format on Afghan settlement.
During a high-level meeting between National Security Advisers Ajit Doval and his colleague Russia Nikolai Patrushev in New Delhi, both sides emphasized the need to prevent violent escalation in Afghanistan.
Doval and Patrushev also touched humanitarian and migration problems in Afghanistan, the Russian embassy said in press releases.
The meeting was a follow-up meeting of the two countries after telephone conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin in August.
“As a follow up to telephone conversations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 24, exchanges of views occurred in the military, political and socioeconomic situation in Afghanistan,” said the Russian Embassy.
During the conversation, the importance “defines the parameters of the structure of the front of the Afghanistan state by the Afghans itself, and the need to prevent escalation of violence, social, ethnicity and the contradiction of recognition in the country, emphasized”.
The meeting came a day after the Taliban, who captured the control of the country hit by the war on August 15, announced a new raretaker government on Tuesday, which consisted of hardlines, without women in the decision-making process.
After the Taliban takeover, Afghanistan had fallen into the crisis with reports of Taliban retaliation emerged from several provinces.
Afghanistan also witnessed the protest against the Taliban.
