KABUL: Afghan exports through Iran’s Chabahar port has been stopped for the past three months, reported local media quoting officials from the Afghan commercial and investment room (ACCI).
Economists believe that the political challenges faced by Afghanistan are the main reasons behind the slow level of exports from the country, reporting tolonews.
“When we don’t export, it doesn’t mean that we don’t export through the port of Chabahar or elsewhere, it means that we don’t have export and depends entirely on imports,” the economic analyst said by saying.
Economists have also credited the decline in the country’s GDP also has an effect on exports through the port of Chabahar.
“When our traders export their belongings to other countries, they receive their money through bank accounts.
But banking services allow around 30,000 Afghanists which are only around 5 percent of the total transactions, which is a big problem for traders,” ToloNews quoted the economy.
Bahram Ramish analyst said.
Statistics from ACCCI suggested that a large ship with food was transported to Afghanistan every 15 days through the Chabahar port, however, the country’s exports remained suspended, the news channel reported.
