KABUL: Afghanistan Foreign Minister Mohammed Haneef Atmar on Tuesday met the charges of D’Affaires from the US Embassy in Kabul, Ross Wilson, to discuss the development of security in the country and the Afghan peace process.
“The Minister of Foreign Affairs talked about the situation of political security and recent developments in the Afghan peace process, confirmed the call of the Afghans to end the Taliban attack immediately in the cities and killings of people in various parts of Afghanistan,” Afghan Foreign Ministry of State say in a statement.
Referring to the Afghan proposition to hold two special sessions of the UN Security Council and the UN Human Rights Council in Afghanistan, Atmar called for Washington’s constructive support and cooperation with Kabul in that matter.
“During the meeting, Atmar emphasized the importance of dialogue on the formation of a ceasefire, the resumption of negotiations, and recovery of eternal peace and stability in Afghanistan as a problem to be discussed in the upcoming UN Security Council session,” his ministry said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs called for the UN Human Rights Council to send a fact-finding mission to Afghanistan to investigate human rights violations and war crimes, and to demand offenders and perpetrators of war crimes.
Wilson also expressed concern for striking human rights violations in Afghanistan, ensuring the atmar from his country’s efforts to fulfill the wishes of the people of Afghanistan to end violence and ensure sustainable peace in Afghanistan, the ministry further stated.
Both parties also talk about the agenda, the level of participation, and problems that will be discussed in the upcoming Doha meeting, he added.
With us and NATO forces announced that they withdrew from the country, the Taliban began an attack on major cities and seized control of several cities.
The Taliban also attacked civilians and imposed regressive and barbarical rules in the provinces that fell to them.
In less than a week, the Taliban won seven of the 34 provincial capitals in this country.
