Afghan President calls Danish father Siddiqui to extend condolences

KABUL: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday called Mr.
Journalist Reuters Danish Siddiqui and expressed condolences for the death of his son to his family and friends.
Siddiqui is the main photographer for Reuters in India.
He was killed during the ongoing violence in Kandahar’s Spin Boldak District.
“This afternoon, President Ashraf Ghani summoned Professor Siddiqui, father of Danish Danish journalist Siddiqui, and expressed condolences for the death of his son to his family, friends and colleagues.
The President called his death a big loss for journalism.

Last week, Ghani had expressed sadness over the death of Denmark Siddiqui, who was killed while covering the atrocities of the Taliban in a torn war.
“I was very sad to a surprising report that Reuters Danish Denmark Siddiqui was killed when covering the Taliban cruelty in Kandahar,” he said.
“While I extend my sincere condolences to the family of sediqqui and also to our media family, I repeated my unwavering government’s commitment to freedom of speech and free media protection and journalist,” Ghani added.
India has raised the murder of journalists at the UN Security Council (UNSC).
The Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Harsh Shringla last week in New York said, “We condemned the murder of Indian Photo Journalists Danish Siddiqui when he was conducting reporting in Kandahar in Afghanistan yesterday.
I extended our sincere condolences for the family.”
