Afghan students hope for refugee status after the study has finished

Mangaluru: The Indian Council for Cultural Relations’ (ICCR) to continue scholarships for Afghan students in India has relieved for the majority of students studying in the city.
However, due to increased uncertainty at home, students want the Indian government to give work permits and refugee status once they complete their education.
Notifications for Afghan students under the Scheme of Afghanistan Scholarship ICCR stated that the ICCR scholarship will continue as before for students listed under the Scholarship Scheme for the previous academic year and 2021-22.
Afghan students have been present in India have been advised to submit a visa renewal on the E-FRRO online platform.
Furthermore, for the ICCR scholarship students present in India, who immediately resolved or completed their courses, the ICCR had stated that the students were eligible to apply for acceptance to university / institution of India (which was listed in the A2A portal) for different courses / studies higher.
ICCR scholarships, based on the availability of slots, can then be considered after confirmation of acceptance by universities / institutions that meet the requirements.
(This option is also available for Afghan students who can be financed).
A PhD student who represented the Afghan student community in Mangaluru, welcomed the ICCR decision, told TOI: “Mangalore University authorities have asked Afghan students out to submit higher studies, including post-doctoral.
Nearly 12 students tend to complete their course years this, it is expected to be able to continue higher studies.
The conditions at home are also unprofitable.
Already two months since the Taliban took control and uncertainty only grew.
The students whose families live in leading provinces have been able to stay in touch, but those who live in Rural provinces find it difficult to connect with the people they love.
We are not sure when we will return home.
A total of 58 students study in the city and from them, nearly three PhD students who have returned with their families for stranded holidays in Kabul.
We don’t sure whether they will be able to go back to men Finish their course.
Furthermore, once we completed our education course, we hope the Indian government will provide those who are willing to reserve the work permit and refugee status, “said student representatives.
