Surat: Juma Rasooli, a PhD student at the Ministry of Economy at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (NSGU) will leave for Delhi on Monday to receive his wife and two daughters who will return from Kabul.
After successfully obtaining flight tickets, Rasoolol was sure to take out his family from Afghanistan.
But his hopes to unite with his family were destroyed when flight operations were stopped in Kabul after the Taliban took over the capital of Afghanistan.
“I should take it here a little earlier.
But things happen so fast that I don’t have time to bring them back early.
I don’t know when I will see my family again,” Rasoolol said confused to Ti.
After doing an MBA from the University of Bangalore, Rasoolol is now pursuing an economic doctor’s degree.
His wife and two daughters stayed with him here in the city.
“In May, along with my family, I went to Afghanistan for some important work and I returned earlier.
I didn’t bring them with me hoping the situation would remain normal,” said Rasoololi.
Unlike Rasoolol, another Afghan student, Ostad Andish was lucky.
He took his family to the city just 10 days ago.
“I was lucky with my wife and children.
But I was worried about my relatives and friends who were trapped in Afghanistan,” Andish said, a PhD student, who has five children.
A total of seven students – four women and three men – from Afghanistan were studying in Diamond City.
They experienced a night without sleep since the Taliban troops began to capture important cities in Afghanistan.
“I’m worried not only for my family, but for young girls and unemployed people.
The Taliban has warned that they will get all young girls to get married, even fight their desires.
A girl must have the freedom to decide whether she wants to get married or No, “said Fatma Karim, a Masters Public Administration student in VNSGU.
Karim’s mind echoed by Hameeda Nasir, who pursued MSc in mathematics.
“I talked to my sister last night and they were afraid.
Taliban troops have married young girls who are not married in other parts of the country and now they will do it in a newly arrested area too,” Nasir said.
“I don’t know what to do to help my family.
I can’t do anything, we are helpless,” added Nasir resigned with his fate.
