Jammu: Police Jammu and Kashmir detained a 17-year-old Afghan citizen at Covid testing center at the Lakhanpur entry point in Kathua Regency on Tuesday.
The young man claimed that he returned to Afghanistan from Delhi through Kashmir, and had checked the route to his home place on the internet.
The teenager was then taken to the Lakhanpur police station to be questioned.
Lakhanpur lined up with Punjab and was the gateway to J & K and Covid testing center here made visitors entering the Union (UT) region.
“During the investigation, it was found that the young man did not carry a copy of the passport and his visa but had a digital copy of his travel document on his phone.
Probe Introduction revealed that he had come to India for the treatment of his brother, who was in the Afghan Army and is currently being hospitalized RR soldiers in Delhi along with 10 other Afghan citizens, who were all injured against the Taliban.
