Afghan women’s news anchor stops working after the Taliban takeover

KABUL: A journalist A woman Afghanistan said she was banned from working on TV stations after the Taliban took control of the country, and begged for help in videos posted online.
Wearing a headscarf and showing his office card, the famous news of Shabnam Dawran’s anchor said “our lives under threat” in clips on social media.
Under the Taliban regime from 1996 to 2001, women are expelled from public life, girls cannot go to school, entertainment is prohibited and brutal punishment is worn.
Women’s journalists have also been targeted by militants in a wave of murder in recent months that lead to the takeover of their country.
However, because it seizes power in the Taliban lightning attacks to claim women will have rights, including education and work, and that media will be independent and free.
A Taliban official even sat for one-on-one interview with a female journalist on TV to pressure the point.
But Dawran, who had worked as a journalist for six years in Afghanistan for the RTA state-owned broadcasters, said this week he was forbidden from entering his office while male colleagues were allowed to enter.
“I did not give up after changing the system.
And went to attend my office, but unfortunately I was not allowed even though it showed my office card,” he said in the video.
“Male employees, those who have an office card are allowed to enter the office but I am told that I cannot continue my job because the system has been changed.” Dawran then begged the viewers, saying: “Those who listen to me, if the world hears me, then please help us because of our lives under threat.” Among those who share recordings is Miraqa Popal, an editor in Tolo News, 24-hour channel in Afghanistan.
“The Taliban did not allow my former colleague here at @Tolonews and the famous anchor of the state of @rtapashto Shabnam Dawran to start his job today,” Popal wrote in Tweet on Wednesday which was distributed by thousands of times.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Popal posted a picture of a female news presenter about Tolo, with information: “We proceeded our broadcast with women’s anchors today.”
