Islamabad: The United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on Thursday raises serious concerns about the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan, saying they have suffered very suffering after the Taliban country takeover in mid-August 2021.
The UN body claims that the girls and women of Afghanistan has lost their basic rights.
“The fundamental rights of Afghanistan women and girls are being attacked and they need UN support and solidarity now more than before,” Ocha said, adding that 11.8 million women and girls need urgent humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan.
According to the United Nations Office, humanitarian organizations must aim to increase assistance to women and girls by providing food, health care, education, livelihood opportunities and protection services.
Tweet Ocha attended a meeting of around two dozen women’s activists in Kabul on Wednesday night which turned on the candle during a demonstration.
The women said they were maintained all night and “turned on candles for freedom”.
Reacting to UN comments, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that since the emirate of Islam in power, everyone enjoyed their rights and UN reports on women’s rights based on “false information”.
Since regaining control over Afghanistan, Taliban representatives have promised to respect women’s rights to work and education in an undefined Islamic framework.
But government actions over the past few months strongly suggested that Islamic groups have seriously limited their movements and activities.
They cannot go to work or travel without guardians.
Under the Taliban government, girls over 12 years old have been banned from attending schools and women have been excluded from many of the workforce fields, including the fields of media and entertainment.
The ministry of government ministry had previously been abolished and his office was replaced by service to propagate the virtue and prevention of representatives.
Afghan women do not have a representation in the temporary Taliban government cabinet.
