KABUL: World Health Organization (WHO) said that due to lack of vaccines, Afghanistan had been hit with a rapid surge in the rupture of measles.
A WHO spokesman, Margaret Harris, told the journalists in Geneva through Zoom that at least 87 children had died of measles this year and the problem was getting worse without vaccines, reporting news.
“Unfortunately, we have reported 87 deaths,” Harris said.
“We will see so much more if we don’t move quickly.” “For children who are malnourished, measles is a death sentence,” whose spokesman said.
He emphasized the urgent need to increase testing for the outbreak of disease in this country, adding that even though the monitoring of the plague was still raging.
Officials at Indian Children’s Hospital Gandhi said that the number of measles of death would rise if those who cannot provide vaccines as soon as possible, report Tolo news.
“The plague is increasing from day to day.
The lack of vaccines is the main reason for the emergence of the plague,” said Abdulsamad Tasal, a doctor at the hospital.
According to health officials, measles is a very contagious disease that infects children one to five years old.
This disease is only prevented by vaccination.
“Measles has surged compared to previous years and because of the challenges in the health sector, access to vaccines, for different diseases, has declined,” said Soheil Meherzad.
Fahim, who was two and half-year-old had been infected with measles, said that he had taken his son to medical centers several times for vaccination, but because of the lack of vaccines, he had not been able to do it to vaccinate his child.
Fahim, the patient’s father, said, “At first, my child was a fever.
We did not know what he had suffered.
Then we took him to this hospital and the doctors after the exam said he was infected with measles.” Meanwhile, health officials said the number of people infected with diabetes in Afghanistan increased, adding that this year more than one million people were infected with this disease and most of them were women, reported news.
