Afghanistan: In the midst of severe economic problems, the hospital cuts trees for fuel

KABUL: November 21 (Ani): In the midst of severe economic problems caused by chaos caused by the takeover of the Afghan Taliban, a hospital was forced to cut down trees to be used as cooking fuel in the kitchen.
The Head of Indian Children’s Hospital, Mohammad Latif Bahir, said that the hospital cut down the trees planted on his courtyard to cook food for patients and employees, reported Tolo news.
“With the fall of former government and lack of international assistance, we face a shortage of fuel.
We are obliged to use trees planted in the hospital yard to provide food for patients and staff,” said Bahir.
Foreign organizations provide hospital fuel for one month.
“A foreign organization promises to give fuel for a period of one month.
If the fuel problem is not solved, the hospital will be forced to cut down trees,” someone said responsible for logistical affairs at the hospital.
The hospital while it struggles with amazing number of patients.
The doctors voiced concerns about not being paid in the past four months, reporting Tolo news.
“We have not received our salary in almost four months.
We face many problems.
Lack of good food and equipment,” said Royena, a doctor.
