Afghanistan: India is seen playing a ‘constructive’ in Doha for political results

In the midst of concerns over the Taliban military attacks that were unrelenting in Afghanistan, assisted by international terrorists, India participated on Thursday at a regional conference in Doha to accelerate the peace talks of Afghanistan.
Indian participation was significant because it was kept away from the Troika meeting which was expanded only the day before Russia, the US, China and Pakistan in the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan.
The conference is still on Thursday.
The official source said the Indian delegation played a constructive role in efforts being carried out to reach an agreement for political outcomes.
Apart from ordering about Taliban, India has supported all peace initiatives in recent times for eternal political settlement through “inclusive Afghan LEDs, Afghan-controlled processes”.
The day before the DOHA meeting, the government reaffirmed in parliament that India was associated with various stakeholders in and outside Afghanistan for long-lasting peace.
India was represented by the secretary with MEA J P Singh at the meeting.
The participants seemed to agree that there was no military solution to Afghanistan and that, according to the Head of Afghanistan Negotiator Abdullah Abdullah, they would not recognize the regime that took over the country forcibly.
While the meeting was still on, Abdullah asked the unsc directly to discuss the current developments in Afghanistan.
The participants expressed concern for increased Taliban attacks, including war crimes and human rights violations.
During his visit to India last week, Qatar Special Mutlaq bin Mutlaq Bin Majed Al-Qahtani had emphasized the need for temporary political arrangements that could end violence in Afghanistan.
Al-Qahtani then invited India for a ongoing meeting in Doha.
Qatar also expressed concern about the possibility of external actors that affect the ongoing Doha peace process between the Taliban and the Afghan government.
While Qatar has not specifically blamed Pakistan, the Afghan government has been far more open about this problem.
After Troika spoke in Doha on Wednesday, Abdullah Abdullah said the continuation of Taliban’s bloody attacks “in collusion with regional and international terrorists” will not only lead to the protracted humanitarian and war disaster but also “make terrorists rub and incite the region” pose a threat for all.
While the MEA did not comment on reports that large terrorists from Pakistan have joined the Taliban, India has repeatedly expressed concern since the beginning of this year about the role of terror groups.
During his visit to Kabul earlier this year, NSA Ajit Doval emphasized the need to control international terror groups for peace and durable stability in Afghanistan.
