Afghanistan region should not be a source of terrorism: India, France

New Delhi: India and France have underlined the need to ensure that the Afghanistan region is not a source of terrorism and calls for joint actions against all terror groups including Lashkar-e-Taiba (costs) and Hezbul Mujahideen.
At the Indian-France Working Group meeting about counter-terrorism in Paris, both parties condemned terrorism in all its forms including cross-border terrorist activities and vowed to stand together in the war against threats, according to the ministry, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Both parties also urged to ensure that the perpetrators of terrorist attacks were systematically and quickly brought to court.
Held in a month that marked the 13th anniversary of the November 2008 Mumbai attack and the six-year anniversary of the Paris strike November 2015, this meeting reaffirmed the Indian and French parent which was firm over terrorism in all its forms, MEA said.
“Both sides emphasize the need for all countries to ensure that areas under control they cannot be used to plan, launch a terrorist attack on other countries, residence or train terrorist fighters,” he said.
Both parties exchanged views on various areas of cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism, against illegal narcotics drugs and smuggling weapons.
Mea said they declared their willingness to continue to share information about radicalization replies and violent extremism, fighting terrorism financing, preventing the abuse of the Internet for terrorist or extremist purposes to act against internationally appointed entities and individuals.
“Both parties are committed to working together to respond to these challenges and discuss ways to deepen the involvement between their respective partner institutions to advance cooperation within the scope of counter-terrorism,” he said.
Both parties also discussed contra-terrorism cooperation in multilateral fora including the United Nations, building Indian membership from the Security Council for two annual 2021-2022, and at FATF (Financial Action Task Force).
