KABUL: Afghanistan with a valid visa and a passport stranded in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif and waits for taking flight evacuation rented abroad will be allowed to leave, a Taliban official at City International Airport said on Tuesday.
Muntwi Hafiz Mansour said the majority of Afghans who were waiting to take one of the four evacuation flights did not have a valid visa or passport.
Taliban just say Afghanistan with a passport and a valid visa will be allowed to leave.
Mansour does not provide details of their number with valid documents and those who do not.
Speaking of Qatar, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also said the Taliban had guaranteed a safe engagement for all who tried to leave Afghanistan with the right travel documents.
He said the United States would hold the Taliban for that promise.
The US is under pressure to help the remaining Americans and green card holders leave Afghanistan, and have promised to work with the Taliban to do that.
