Coimbatory: The Ministry of Road Transportation and Highway has called for an offer from the consultant to prepare detailed project reports (DPR) to expand bypass coimbatore.
The consultant will prepare the DPR to convert the stretch of two lines of 26.1 km between NeeBur and Madukkarai to four -lane, and study the technical and financial feasibility of this project.
While the bypass was expanded by the central government in 2010 at a cost of 850 crores between Chengapalli and Walakay, the stretch of NeeBur-Madukkarai was left to complete a daily traffic jam.
The absence of dividers makes stretches more dangerous.
With the number of road users increasing with rapid development throughout the stretch, some intersections have turned into traffic barriers.
Residents have welcomed the decision to develop the road.
Some of them bring to social media about seeing tender invitations to thank the central government.
They urged the government to take work at the beginning.C M M Jayaraman, the president of the residents of Voice Coimbatore, said it had long been awaited.
“There is a proposal to build a ring road, but it is stored in cold storage.
Widening road proposal should not end like that,” he said.
Jayaraman urges the country and the central government to conduct public hearing so that people will have the opportunity to express their views.
“Suitable suggestions can be taken and entered when the detailed project report is prepared,” he added.
